Enabling communication without using the internet or mobile networks

Program:
Fixing the mobile Internet. Together. More than 5 million people use Open Garden today. By joining Open Garden, you are joining forces to make the Internet better, faster and more reliable – for everyone, including yourself. Open Garden allows all devices (including smart phones, tablets, laptops and “wearables”) to work together and find the best connections at any time. The more people use it, the better it gets.

Results:

Over 100.000 downloads on Google Play Store and used in various places with low or no internet/mobile network connection.

Future:

The potential of mesh technology and it's application to education is huge. Mesh technology in the future will enable anyone to also share content, documents and even create local "servers" with stored data. A school could for instance create a local server accessible by Mesh by the whole school without needing to go through the internet or even local area networks and a costly IT infrastructure. Students will be able to cooperate and work together in real time via their devices, share content etc.
